Cupid (Amor, Eros) is most often depicted as a winged figure armed with a bow and arrow. The term 'Cupid' should be interpret in a broad sense, as since the Renaissance cupid has been joined by chubby little boys, mostly without wings. Occasionally they are depicted together on prints.
Cupid (Cupido) is of course known for being the god of desire, erotic love, attraction and affection. He is often portrayed as the son of the love goddess Venus. Dutch Delft tiles depicting Cupid have already been admired objects, as Johannes Vermeer already painted them on the world famous painting 'Het melkmeisje', internationally known as 'The Milkmaid'.
