Koff, 18th/19th century

Availability: In Stock

Price on Request

This Delft tile mural was fabricated around 1800 in the Dutch city of Harlingen. It depicts a koff (cargo ship) under sail. The mural was painted by Meindert Jans Vogelzang, who was at this time one of the most skilled painters working in the tile industry. A koff is a historical type of sailing vessel that was used for coastal shipping off Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The mural is in a good condition with professionally glued fractures, which is almost always inevitable for tile murals this age. Note that none of the fractures or chips have been restored. We have left it in a very pure condition. Of course, it can still be restored on request. Apart from leaving restorations out, the mural has completely been prepared by us to be reused for tiling projects.

Please contact us for more information and/or a full condition report.

Antique tiles

Antique tiles are handmade, so variations in color, size and texture are to be expected. Also, due to the age of the items, small chips and signs of use are common and considered to be part of antique tiles and the overall experience. Our tiles have been rinsed and cleaned intensely, making them suitable to be reused. However, we can never guarantee that all traces of sooth, salt or other forms of pollution have completely been extracted from the tiles. We expect our customers to be aware of this matter.

Color accuracy

Due to the relative inconsistencies of various display monitors, the colors you see on your screen may not be a totally accurate reproduction of the actual product. We strive to make our colors as accurate as possible, but screen images are intended as a guide only and should not be regarded as absolutely correct.
